Our Story & Vision

The story of Kanzaki Beach House starts with the owner Marie, who saw a chance to revitalise this quiet, naturally beautiful part of Japan. Her vision was to make this authentic region more visible to both local and international travellers and bring life back to the area. She bought and renovated an old holiday house by the beach and continues to improve the space and create meaningful connections between the local community and visitors.

Volunteering Opportunities

At Kanzaki Beach House, we offer volunteering opportunities where you can help with a variety of projects while getting to know the local area and community. It's a unique way to experience the authentic side of Japan, connect with locals, and be part of the ongoing improvements to our guesthouse, all while enjoying all this enchanting region has to offer.

A true gem at the Sea of Japan. The owners run this simple, clean and quiet guesthouse with a lot of commitment and with a big heart. You might just want to listen to the waves and relax in a hammock. You might want to try SUP, go swimming or collect shells from the white sand. Or you might want to use this place as a base camp for a day trip. When you are tired of the tourist masses there, you just return to your peaceful home at the sea. We have travelled Japan as a family with a rental car for 3,5 weeks, and this little beach house was our favorite place.

Marie's place was a slice of paradise, situated on a large property right on the beach, which was very private. The area is stunningly beautiful, with both beach and forrest and easy to access train to Kyoto. The house has a relaxed beach vibe, with a shared kitchen. Our Japanese style accomodation was quite large and very clean and comfortable. We'll go back in a heartbeat, so lucky to have found it.
